The Friday Report: This Week In Stardoll

Seemed like a very quiet week. There were only a few free items.

-LPS lamp. Yes, it's a bit fugly. And you can also get your pet shop goodness fix by joining their club. I'm saying not happening. LINK IS HERE

-Last Song shirt. This proxy was slower than Paris Hilton's thinking process. Maybe it's cuz I'm in a place with bad wifi. LINK IS HERE.

-Free lightbulb-thing. I don't have a link for this. I know I should. BUT ITS LATE AND IM TIRED.

New Play & Earn isn't too bad-I like it better. Rate an album, photo, Catwalk, StarDesign, and vote someone. Not bad.

I maxed out on my monthly $$ and they gave me the randomest doll thing. It's this little doll statuette. Then, the next day, a dollhouse showed up in my suite. It leaves me with a question.

Reopening Migliukee

You've probably heard of the whole Migliukee scandal that went down last year. If you haven't here's a quick summary.

Stardoll held a design contest. Migliukee won. Her designs were stolen from another site. Stardoll yanked the line and made it non-sellable. The pieces have become rares.

Stardoll's Help Clinic?

Over the years, Stardoll has grown into more of a mini-city than just Fame, Fashion and Friends. The other day, I came across something interesting. What appears to be a "help clinic." The account's name is WeWantToHelpYou and can be linked to here.

The user's presentation reads as follows.

Wrapping Up the Workweek: the Friday Report

Lots happened this week. Lots happens every week.

Alexander McQueen boots were released this week. In a shocking surprise, they were non-superstar and affordable on the Play & Earn program.

No, I didn't buy them. I would have, had my Play & Earn not ended today.

It seemed with this week's Cyber Tribes theme (I LOVED it, it was like a mix of tribal prints with neon. Thing Darjeeling Limited with the brightness turned up) and I noticed it was heavy on the bright, print minis. Not complaining, I bought the blue one.

In every cute, there's ugly. Here's my personal pick for Ugliest of the Week.

The $7 Fudge pants have a bad fit, weird pattern, and don't go with much other than the interior of a trashcan.

There were also lots of bangles in this collection.

Fresh new Archive this week. I thought it was a bit disjointed, seemed like a train wreck of...Oscars...and Idoru...and African tribal print...and like, 80's workout? Okay, I see now...and then there was a random Merve Bolgur jumpsuit.

Seems to me like a lot of the big brands have reached a standstill. I was reading ELLE (the magazine) whilst getting my hair cut today and saw an ad of the new Alberta Ferretti collection. Super chic, but why haven't they updated it, DKNY, Vivienne Tam, ELLE, Baby Phat, or Miss Sixty in a while? And what about LE and Antidote?

Red Carpet...

Stardoll just released two Gowns worn by Miley Cyrus(Jenny Pachman) and Gabourey Sidibe (Marcheza) at the Oscars... The gowns are beautiful, but not my favorite from the Oscars (like Jennifer Lopez gown)... Maybe stardoll plan to release more..

We Love Your Style: magickillen

I was going to feature this girl as a Hot Spot, but her style is too amazing-it's more than just her outfit! Her Stardoll name is magickillen. I looked into her closet, which was filled with luxurious, elegant, and very royal pieces. Here's a picture of her.

Also, looking through her suite, the suite looks cute too. Almost like something you would see in a Victorian castle.

Is Stardoll Making Us...Gasp...FAT?

I noticed this when the LE "Couture Poppy Dress" came out. The original Chanel version is beautiful (I cannot find a picture to post at this time) but the Stardoll version...is interesting. By "interesting," I mean fattening. Take a look at these pictures.

The mannequin thing I used for the picture is the exact scale size to a traditional doll size. And it widens the hips, making the doll look..portly.

Another example would be the All Over Stud Sculpted dress, sold at the Viole Holiday Boutique over the 2009 winter holidays. I don't know if this was the look chosen for this dress.

As Many Clubs As You Want?

Okay, this just in.

It IS possible to have as many clubs a you want, through this easy cheat.

However, it only works with Google Chrome. If you aren't on Chrome...sorry. Chrome's the way to go.

SO. To start, join any club you want. Could be an Edward Fan Club or whatever. Or you can join my club...

Then, after you've joined, go back to the Clubs Startpage and the only club you will be a member of is the club you just joined.

Now, click Create A Club. And create a club.

And there you are.

I'm going to go start a club for this blog.

It's a Look

As I was exploring Stardoll, I dropped into user misnally's suite to see the strangest thing...she has no eyes...

At first, I wasn't sure whether this is a flaw of Stardoll or a purposeful look. But when I loaded her MeDoll editor, everything was fine. Then, when I went back to her page, she was sporting two eyes. I assume this was a flaw of Stardoll....

Outfit FAIL

Well, not everyone can have flawless style. Every so often, I will pick out an outfit that is TRULY horrendous and feature it. Here's today's.

I am not featuring the user's name, and she will not receive a feature notification. I have blurred her face to protect her identity.

She is wearing one of her own designs, it appears just to be a large brown bag with some orange designs in random patterns.

Nice Face

Sometimes, when I see someone with the most creative hair and makeup, I just HAVE to feature them.

This girl's name is Brumilicious, and I loved her look. So Lady Gaga circa The Fame album cover inspired and pitch-perfect.

Fakes vs. The Real Stuff

Well, there's LE fakes and Antidote fakes. And quite a few DKNY fakes made in the Stardesign. Some of these designs are pretty nice, while others look bad.

For example, here are two fakes made by DolphinGiggles.They're a DKNY Scuba dress and the DKNY Skyscraper Print dress.

And here are the real ones, for comparison.

What do you think? Real enough? Personally, I will be the one shelling out the money for the real ones.
